51 50 is loaded with stimulants, touched with a bit of nitric oxide and is ready to be blasted into your workouts.
Rich Piana gives it to you straight and skips out on the fluff. This pre workout meets its claims, though it's a bit expensive for what you get.
I highly advise you proceed with caution and start with half a scoop even if you think you can handle it.
Many concentrated pre workouts require you to take multiple scoops but you won't do that with 51 50.
In fact, you may want to start with only half a scoop with this one...
It's powered by the almighty stimulants.
Each serving is packed with 400mg of caffeine and 4g of pure citrulline.
His line up of supplements just shows you how 5% Rich is.
Take a look at his Mentaliy for hyper focus, or his Crea-Ten (ten types of creatine!).
Like any pre workout with a ton of stimulants, you do want to take breaks and use it in moderation... If 51 50 doesn't hit you, then it's time for a break!
Rich Piana is known for his freakish, eccentric lifestyle.
But people either love or hate him.
Seems like 51 50 is what die hard fans been waiting for.
This stim heavy pre workout is not to be taken as an light weight though.
It's got all kinds of ingredients including a new stimulant; Halostachine.
Unlike a lot of concentrated, heavy stimulant pre workouts, it seems to be a balanced pre workout as it not only has stimulants but ergogenics as well.
51 50 is geared towards stim junkies, as it's filled with ingredients that'll increase focus, pumps and lots of energy.
It starts off with citrulline and taurine for volumization and pumps, from there it's all about focus and energy.
With over 10 stimulants, you're going to get all the focus and energy you need to destroy your workout, and then some more!
There's so many concentrated and strong pre workouts out there, so how's 51 50 match up?
Let's find out...
Citrulline is the pure, unaltered source which is comparable to 6 grams of citrulline malate.
Known for being superior to arginine (because citrulline is more bioavailable), L-Citrulline will enhance nitric oxide levels as well as increase endurance and recovery.
With 4 grams of Citrulline per serving, you'll notice less soreness, more pumps and longer lasting workouts.
Most pre workouts fall short on Citrulline and don't dose anywhere near 4 grams!
Taurine is known for being an volumizing ingredient as it increases nutrient and water delivery to muscle cells.
It's a essential amino acid that is depleted during intense physical activity.
So sort of like Glycerol, it improves hydration and endurance.
You'll experience pumps but mostly due to the fact that your muscles are pulling in more water.
The more preferred and expensive version of Tyrosine, NALT (N-Acetyl-L-Tyrosine) is much more bioavailable.
It helps increase congitive function and focus.
Tyrosine elevates dopamine and noradrenaline, which both play a very important part in your brain.
When these two are elevated, concentration and mood is much more improved while it simultaneously decreases stress and focus.
Despite being a non-stimulant ingredient (see our pre workout guide for non-stimulant pre workouts), it significantly increases alertness and focus.
When it's combined with other stimulants, it works even better.
When it comes to choline, the more expensive and bioavailable forms are Alpha GPC and Citoline but seems like you can't have everything in 5150.
Supplementing with choline helps increase the production of acetylcholine, which promotes the mind-to-muscle concentration.
While Rich did include an more expensive version of Tyrosine, he went with the cheapest Choline source.
It isn't a bad thing, but there might not be a point in including this as you may not feeling anything from 500mg.
Anywhere from 1 gram and over is enough to feel the benefits from choline but 500mg is a bit low for this cheap source.
Higenamine is a mild stimulant and it's barely felt when used on it's own, but when combined with caffeine and other stimulants, it makes a world of a difference.
Norcolaurine, or Higenamine, is sourced from the Nandia plant and in ancient times, it was used to prevent asthma attacks.
Like ephedrine (now banned), it is a Beta receptor agonist, which increases the production of noradrenaline, stimulating that "flight or fight" response.
This leads to more alertness, focus and fat burning.
Hordenine prevents the breakdown is noradrenaline so basically it functions as a beta-2 adrenegic agonist.
It's an alkaloid sourced from bitter orange (citrus aurantium).
It's useless when it's used on its own, but in this formula, it's nice to have as it'll help prolong the effects from the stimulants, making it last much longer and possibly make the "crash" an ease.
So all in all, when hordenine is combined with other stimulants, you'll experience much more focus, energy and alertness.
Halostachine is the unique and new stimulant in 5150, and it's barely in any pre workouts.
Halostachine stimulates both alpha- and beta-adrenegic, it's similar to epinephrine and synephrine.
It can increase body temperature and decrease vasolidation, but only a little bit.
It's really under-researched and seems like it's nice to have a new stimulant for the stim-junkies.
Studies are showing that halostachine is similar to what ephedrine, as it has similar fat burning effects but we somehow doubt it would ever replace ephedrine.
Synephrine is another beta receptor agonist, and like Higenamine and Hordenine, it plays a role in fat burning by using fat as an energy source.
It's considered to be not only effective but safe when compared to stronger stimulants like ephedrine.
Combined with the other beta agonist's in this blend, you'll definitely have a surge of energy and focus that's long lasting and powerful.
With 400mg of caffeine in the proprietary blend, that leaves 100mg of room for the other stimulants.
Check out what's included:
With 400mg of caffeine, and a couple of other stimulants, you'll get a mix of slow and fast releasing stimulants that'll have you going at your workout like the hulk drinking espresso for the first time.
We can only warn you so many times, start with half a scoop.
A high stimulant pre workout like this should be used with absolute caution.
The master chief of all stimulants, caffeine anhydrous is simply caffeine that you can find in coffee, tea and whatever else you can imagine.
It boosts alertness, increases focus and mood.
Usually pre workouts will have 300mg or less, but seeing how this is made for stim-junkies, there's much more than that in this blend.
So you may get super cracked for a day or two, but hopefully you don't run out of the powerful 51 50 stuff too soon.
Like Citrulline Malate, dicaffeine malate is caffeine bonded with malic acid.
This will provide and make for more of a "smooth-ride" rather than the instant kick that you usually get from regular caffeine.
Another stimulant that gets the CNS going, Theobromine helps increase energy and focus, but it's much weaker than caffeine.
Like dicaffeine malic acid, it's more smooth and longer lasting than regular caffeine. So you really won't experience any crash from this.
Green tea is weak in caffeine content but really there is no difference between this and regular caffeine.
Green tea has more anti-oxidants and it has theanine but it looks like it's just straight caffeine from green tea.
Yerba Mate has been making its way into pre workouts and energy drinks and it's been increasing in popularity.
It contains the antioxidants found in tea.
Combining it with caffeine and other stimulants should produce some strong energy for sure.
Not exactly known for it's energy, green coffee been extract is able to lower blood pressure as it is high in chlorogenic acid.
Known for it's ancient use in Chinese medicine, it's been shown to reduce anxiety and stress.
It has it's uses for reducing fatigue.
So while you're being stimulated with the stimulants, you'll have Gotu Kola to keep you going, making you feel more in control and less likely to fatigue sooner than usual.
The combination and the ingredients chosen in this blend was well thought out and seems like it'll do more than meet it's claims.
With the mixture of different caffeine types and sources, you'll have a surge of energy that is not only fast acting but also long lasting.
Some stimulants here will give you that kick, while others will be more "smoothed" out so you won't experience that horrible and common crash.
It seems like 51 50 is great for focus and energy, you may have that tunnel focus going too but it's sort of doubtful since the choline source here is weak.
Overall you'll still jump off walls and focus on breaking your personal records like no other!
But once you start taking this pre workout, most pre workouts may not even feel "effective" unless you take at least a week off from stimulants.
Flavors is really the least important part of any pre workout.
But it seems to be super important, that supplement companies are willing to put all kinds of artificial flavoring, coloring and crap inside..
51 50 doesn't seem to be too bad as it only has 2 grams of fillers that make up for the flavoring and coloring.
There's 2.70 grams of fillers per serving (14 grams) which isn't bad at all.
Most pre workouts will have much more (making up to 30% of each serving).
If you're after a strong pre workout with generous doses of citrulline and taurine, then you need to consider 51 / 50.
But if you're just starting out, and you're not sure what you're doing here, then avoid 51 50, or get it and start with a half a scoop or less.
51 50 is a super strong pre workout (see top 10 strongest pre workouts here) that'll get you breaking through plateau's, jumping off the walls and turning into a frenzy beast.
It's a well balanced "Super concentrate", like Mesomorph by APS.
With 2 pump and volumizing ingredients and a boat load of stimulants (both fast and smooth lasting), you'll definitely get swole, energized and ramped up to the maximum.
We highly recommend this if you're after a strong pre workout.
