Bottom Line

Ecdysterone is a naturally occurring hormone found in herbs and foods, like rhaponticum and cyanotis vaga.

The reason why it's gaining popularity is because of it's potential to build muscle and strength without the side effects.

Some studies have discovered similar effects to small doses of synthetic anabolics like steroids and SARMs.

It's nearly as potent as some certain synthetic anabolics without the dangerous side effects.

You'll see why Ecdysterone is one of the best natural anabolics you can get.

What if I told you there's a natural steroid made straight from nature?

While it may not turn you into the next Ronnie Coleman, Ecdysterone is one of the fastest-growing natural anabolics today.

What exactly is this potent anabolic anyway?

Ecdysterone or 20-Hydroxyecdysone come from ecdysteroids, a class of compounds that are structured similarly to the same androgens, like steroids, that increase muscle, and strength.

In fact, one study showed that ecdysteroids are potentially more effective than steroids.

See our recommendations for supplements that are almost like legal steroids.

Ecdysterone is a naturally occurring hormone that plays an important role in the molting and metamorphosis of arthropods, like insects and crabs, animals with exoskeletons.

Insects or animals have elevated Ecdysterone levels to help the animal be released from the exoskeleton.

For example, caterpillars use it to turn into butterflies.

It's also utilized by plants as a defense mechanism against insects that disrupt their reproduction and development.

So what are the benefits for you?

Ecdysterone, also goes as Beta Ecdysterone and 20-Hydroxecdysone, is often used by athletes and bodybuilders as it's believed to help increase muscle mass, and strength, reduce fatigue, and enhance recovery.

While there hasn't been much research prior to 2020, it's now a compound watched by the WADA as they are considering banning it from the competition.

Ecdysterone has been shown to be safer and similarly potent to steroids in that it can help enhance strength and muscle without side effects or toxicity. [1]

It can be found in diet and plants, but the food sources with the most Ecdysterone seem to be quinoa and spinach.

It's commonly stacked with other anabolics like Laxogenin and Epicatchein.

And it's quite similar to Turkesterone.

My Ecdysterone Review

Ecdysterone is a super interesting compound.

When I first looked into it, I found quinoa and spinach to be the best sources of  it and that I shouldn't waste my money on supplements.

Seeing how most supplements have a bad reputation when it comes to these types of natural anabolics, I decided to give Ecdysterone a try from Huge Supplements.

So I've tried Ecdysterone for a solid 4 week cycle.

I took 2 capsules in the morning usually, but sometimes I took it with food because that's how I thought it was suppose to be taken.

I really didn't notice anything for the first 10 days.

In fact I thought I was just taking sugar pills.

But after about 12 days, things got really interesting.

I felt stronger, fuller and my normal working sets felt so much lighter.

I could perform my working sets and I would feel like I could do it again, many times over.

I didn't feel fatigued.

And I recovered a little quicker too.

I usually workout until I'm sore for days but I only felt sore for a day or two and felt like I could exercise the same muscles again..

I kept performing better than the week before for every workout.

I felt incredibly strong, and it couldn't have been a placebo effect because I didn't feel like this for the first 10-12 days.

Although I'm cutting, I gained about 2-3lbs in my short 4 week cycle and I can see more of my abs and veins.

To put this in perspective, I have more than 10 years of lifting experience so 2-3lbs is a huge amount for someone with my experience.

Combining this with Sapogenix would be incredible, although expensive, worth it in my opinion because Sapogenix made me feel more full than Ecdysterone but Ecdysterone had better strength benefits.

Sapogenix also had incredible effects for endurance and performance.

I can't imagine what it would be like to take Ecdysterone for 8 weeks because I had incredible results from just 4 weeks without any side effects.

I recommend going for the 8 week cycle, or at least 4 weeks with possibly using Sapogenix alongside if your budget allows it because the gains will be incredible.

First came Animal Whey, which was widely anticipated for and with no surprise it’s made a huge hit with the flavors and profiles.

Now with their latest weight gainer, it’s making us wonder if it’s going to set the industry standards for its category.

Let’s get down to business, cut through the crap and find out what the fuss is all about…

Ecdysterone Benefits

The image above shows the structure of Ecdysterone (A) as well as of the other anabolic agents used for comparison (B: selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) S-1, C: anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS) methandienone, D: AAS dihydrotestosterone, E: AAS estradienedione) [source].

Ecdysterone is a potent compound that has been shown by research to increase muscle and strength gains.

Ecdysterone, or also known as Beta Ecdysterone and 20-Hydroxecdysone, has a similar structure to androgens.

They are used as insect and plant growth factors.

Although for humans there isn't much research, one study found ecdysterone can exert testosterone-like effects.

While it may not increase testosterone as if it was receiving testosterone injections, it may respond the same way as it would to an injection.

One study showed that it can increase muscle mass by up to 7% while decreasing fat mass by 10% without causing any side effects, all within 10 days. [2]

That's unheard of in any other supplement and only otherwise possible with steroids like winstrol and trenbolone.

Muscle Gains

A study performed on phytoecdysteroids have shown that it can increase protein synthesis by as much as 20% [3].

Ecdysterone also has implications for strength building as the same study found rats also have been seen to increase their grip strength while using ecdysteroids.

Another study showed that just after 10 weeks of using Ecdysterone, users gained 2kg of lean muscle mass.

Strength

Popeyes may have been on to something as what's in spinach can actually increase strength in humans.

One study had 46 participants take an Ecdysterone supplement for 10 weeks while the control group had a placebo.

Afterwards, they measured 1 rep bench press and found not only did the Ecdysterone group had significantly higher numbers but they also made much more muscle gains.

The users also had nearly a 20% increase in their squats, from 100kg to 120kg. [4]

Ecdysterone and Anabolism

This is perhaps the most interesting part of ecdysterones.

This one study showed the potency of ecdysterone and it shows that it is more potent in anabolics effects than Dianabol, Dienedione and SARMs.

This alone just shows how ridicioulsy effective ecdysterone is.

And seeing how WADA now has ecdysterone on their radar, it just proves that there's some potent anabolic effect to this natural compound.

Check out the image below showing the potency of each anabolic, including ecdysterone [5]:

If ecdysterone alone is more potent and anabolic than these steroids and SARMs, imagine if it was stacked with Laxogenin and other natural anabolics?

It would result in some really nice synergy for gains.

There was even a study done back in 1988 where they showed Ecdysteroids to have a stronger endurance boosting effect than Dianabol. [6]

How to Use Ecdysterone

Most studies were using anywhere from 50mg to 500mg per day for anywhere from 3-12 weeks.

The problem is most of the studies were using generic supplements that had an advertising 100mg ecysteroid per serving which only had 6mg of the active ingredient taking twice per day.

These users still gained 1.5kg of lean muscle mass.

This means the researchers thought the users were getting 200mg to 800mg of ecydsterone, but in reality, they were getting 12 to 48mg of ecdysterone per day.

You'll just need to get 0.15 to 0.6mg per kg of bodyweight (or 0.40 to 1.4mg per lb).

I've used all kinds of natty anabolics.

Check out what I believe to be the best muscle-building stacks.

How to Dose Ecdysterone

The best Ecdysterone supplement by far is Huge Nutrition's Ecdysterone.

It uses the cyclosome delivery system to help with optimize absorption.

Take 1-2 capsules in the morning, on an empty stomach.

Now you could just take 1 capsule and you'll still see gains but for maximum benefit, we recommend going with 2 capsules and going with at least 8 weeks, optimally 12 weeks at a time.

The effects kick in within 1-3 weeks, and once it does, you'll feel much stronger.

For maximum effects, stack it with Sapogenix as this will result in some really nice gains.

Use Wrecked as a pre workout, as this has muscle building and pump inducing compounds.

For post workout, use Formula XII, as this has creatine, carbs and muscle building compounds.

To help optimize testosterone, add in Enhance, and if you want to reduce estrogen, use Rebirth PCT.

The reason why you want to stack these supplements is because they have muscle building benefits.

Betaine can increase muscle protein synthesis, and Sapogenix contains a very anabolic mix of plant-based steroids that can enhance strength.

These work much better when stacked with each other.

Other Supplements with Ecdysterone

Ecdysterone is quite good, but what's even better is when it's combined with other ingredients.

Here are some good choices:

Ecdysterone: Strong Muscle Builder Without The Side Effects

Ecdysterone is clearly one of the best muscle builders you can have in your stack.

It's similar to Turkesterone, but it's much more widely available.

It's clearly what Popeyes was trying to tell us when he popped a can of spinach.

While WADA is quick to ban anything, they've even had caffeine banned before 2004 for a few years, Ecdysterone is still a very potent muscle builder and you'll notice your strength isn't the same once you go off of it.

Even eating quinoa and spinach will help you get the Ecdysterone you need.

But consuming it in a supplement will result even better results.

And it turns into the ultimate stack when it's combined with Sapogenix.

Ecydsterone For The Gains

Ecdysterone is a potent muscle builder with massive potential in mass and strength gains. It's best stacked with other anabolics like in the Advanced Anabolic Stack.
