Bottom Line

Summary: Kraken is a unique pre workout that doesn't overly depend on caffeine and uses a mix of exotic stimulants to maximize energy without leaving you jittery and anxious.

It uses DMHA and Eria Jarensis for energy and mood while maxing out on dosages for beta alanine and agmatine.

You won’t only experience long lasting pumps and endurance here but you’ll likely feel more motivated and excited to train.

Kraken is for you if you’re looking for something that has a fine balance of ingredients along with focus and energy to back it up.

Are you ready to Rock?

Even if you're not, you'll feel inclined to when you try Kraken.

This pre workout is designed to get you pumped and primed for training.

Sparta Nutrition has created a mega packed DMHA-based pre workout with 200mg of caffeine and giant doses of nitric oxide for pumps.

This company has made a reputation for being a solid prohormone distributor and are known to make hardcore, and hard hitting supplements.

Kraken is their first pre workout to surface and it is turning heads with it’s strong looking formula, it will certainly have you breaking PR’s in the gym, or at least dying to.

Now this pre workout is certainly not for beginners so proceed with caution if you’ve never used a combination like caffeine and DMHA.

Kraken Ingredients

Isn’t it nice seeing a fully disclosed formula?

We are seeing more and more pre workouts with fully open formulas which is something we can always appreciate.

Kraken isn’t just a pre workout packed with DMHA and caffeine though.

It also uses Eria Jarensis, a PEA-like ingredient that gives off an euphoric effect so you won’t only have an increase of energy here, but also a mood boost along with massive pumps and endurance.

The ingredients here are all clinically dosed and they are range from citrulline malate, beta alanine to taurine and agmatine sulfate.

Pumps, energy and performance is what Kraken’s formula is designed for.

This formula doesn’t have creatine which may be a plus for most of you but it is cheap to get in bulk so we see no reason to have an essential and cheap ingredient in a pre workout.

Let’s jump in and see what you’ll get from this beastly pre workout…

Citrulline (4g)

A lot of pre workouts opt for citrulline malate but citrulline is where it’s at as it’s the pure form that we get the pumps from.

Citrulline is heavily dosed at 4g so your muscles will surely get nasty and pumped with this ingredient alone.

What makes citrulline so popular is that it’s gained a reputation for being more bioavailable and potent than L-Arginine when it comes to increasing nitric oxide levels.

L-Citrulline works by increasing vasodilation and blood flow, providing better nutrient delivery to muscles, allowing them to work harder and longer.

Citrulline also boosts ATP production and helps the process of ammonia removal, like beta alanine, so you are able to workout harder while delaying the onset of fatigue and the “burn”.

Beta Alanine (3.2g)

Tingles and itchiness is what you may feel from this ingredient.

Beta Alanine has a love / hate relationship with most people but mainly because it is felt almost instantly as it gives off that famous tingly feeling.

Kraken contains a full clinical dosage of 3.2g so you get an entire days dosage in one scoop.

BA is known to decrease and delay the onset of lactic acid so you are less prone to the “burning” sensation associated with extended sets and reps.

It does this by creating carnosine, a intracellular buffer that decreases the production of lactic acid in skeletal muscles.

Since it’s recommended to take beta alanine on a daily basis for maximum benefits, you’d want to buy this in bulk as it’s a bad idea to use Kraken everyday just for the BA content.

HydroMax (2g)

When you look for pumps, you do not want to settle for just “dry pumps” as HydroMax gets muscles super saturated with water.

HydroMax is a high quality form of glycerol which uses 65% glycerol by weight.

Your muscles literally turn into a sponge that absorbs water, turning you into a super-hydrated beast.

Thanks to this, your endurance and overall performance will remain high during tough and demanding workouts.

Looks like citrulline isn’t the only form of nitric oxide here and you’re going to get nice and full thanks to this HydroMax.

To get the most out of this ingredient, you’ll want to consume more water than usual as your muscles will be sucking it up like a sponge.

Taurine (1g)

Taurine goes quite well with HydroMax as it has similar volumizing benefits.

What this amino acid does is that it helps increase endurance and mental cognition as it can be stored and found in skeletal muscle.

It has many benefits and it’s essential for optimal physical and mental performance.

And as we already mentioned with HydroMax, since this helps volumize muscles, you’ll want to ensure you’re properly hydrated.

Agmatine (1g)

We’ve already got HydroMax for "wet" pumps and Citrulline to elevate N.O. levels.

This very ingredient will ensure those nitric oxide levels remain elevated for a longer period of time as it can protect N.O. levels from declining.

What it does is that it inhibits the arginase enzyme which breaks down arginine.

It also plays a role as a neuroregulator in the brain, helping increase mental functions and overall cognition.

Prepare for some strong pumps because this N.O. extender will produce long lasting pumps as it can keep N.O. levels elevated.

Agmatine also offers a nice range of benefits for the central nervous system and cardiovascular system so you’ll be taking advantage of a very beneficial ingredient that isn’t only for pumps but for overall health as well.

You’ll usually find pre workouts that dose agmatine at 500mg or less but here you’re getting a full gram per serving so you’ll feel solid pumps as this formula already has citrulline and HydroMax.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine (500mg)

Now we begin to step into the mental enhancing ingredients.

N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine is a powerful brain booster as it can increase the production of two very important neurotransmitters, noradrenaline and dopamine.

Both of these neurotransmitters help increase motivation, mood and focus while decreasing stress and anxiety.

All in all, you’ll feel more in control but zoned into your training without feeling overwhelmed.

Eria Jarensis Extract (250mg)

If you’ve ever wanted to feel good, have plenty of motivation and energy, then you’ll like this stimulant.

Caffeine Anhydrous (200mg)

Eria Jarensis is a PEA-based ingredient that has N-phenethyl dimethylamine, N- methyl-PEA and N,N-dimethyl-PEA.

This popular stimulant can increase mood and energy for a nice duration of time as it lasts longer than PEA does.

Eria Jarensis produces a decent “euphoric” mood so essentially you’ll feel good and hyped up, this comes to no surprise as its' chemical structure is quite similar to DMAA and amphetamines.

But like most stims, Eria Jarensis performs better when it’s mixed with other stimulants like the one coming up…

One good look and you’ll wonder why Kraken only contains 200mg of caffeine.

That isn’t much right? Wrong.

It’s a whole lot considering there’s other stimulants in here that are dosed beyond most of the pre workouts out there.

This 200mg dosage of caffeine goes perfectly with the nicely dosed, 200mg DMHA, 250mg Eria Jarensis and NALT along with B12, as these energy boosters will result in some long lasting, intense energy and focus.

You may even want to start at half a scoop because if you’ve never taken that much DMHA and those other stims in one scoop, then you may just feel too anxious and jittery.

So other than the fact that it does look like a moderate dose of caffeine, it’s not the only source of energy in here.

And as usual, caffeine will increase alertness, mood and overall performance in the gym.

2-Aminoisoheptane (200mg)

Eria Jarensis is a pretty good stimulant but 2-aminoisoheptane, also known as DMHA, is even better and more intense.

There's been a lot of stims claiming to be the next best thing to DMAA but this has truly caught the attention of pre workout users as its' chemical structure is quite similar and performs nearly as well.

Though it isn’t as hard hitting as DMAA, 2-aminoisoheptane drives mood to an uplifted state, leaving you feeling more euphoric.

DMHA is extracted from Kigelia Africana, and has been used as a pain reliever, antioxidant and antibacterial agent.

It has a similar structure to DMAA and Amp Citrate, but DMHA seems more beneficial towards focus and mood.

Interestingly enough, DMHA has been seen to increase pain threshold in animals so it should help delay fatigue and help you push out a few more reps / weight than usual.

We’ve seen this stimulant being dosed anywhere from 100mg to 150mg so at the 200mg dose, you’ll likely feel its effects.

If the FDA was to ever take DMHA off the shelves, it wouldn’t be because of safety but because of the pharmaceutical industry turning this into a prescription drug.

So try Kraken while it’s still heavily available.

L-Norvaline

Like agmatine, L-Norvaline prevents the breakdown of arginine in the body, making it another extender for nitric oxide.

This is great to have in any N.O. product, especially if there’s ingredients like citrulline to increase N.O. levels.

HydroMax, taurine, citrulline, agmatine and now L-Norvaline…

If Kraken doesn’t give you nasty pumps, then surely nothing will!

Flavors

We’re not big on taste as we are on results but these flavors are unique so we’ve got to mention them…

There’s currently 4 flavors available:

  • Sour Gummy Bear
  • Sex on the Beach
  • Bombsicle
  • Watermelon Rancher

These may taste a little too good for what the pre workout is aimed to do but they are tasty nevertheless.

Final Words

With the onslaught of the FDA attempting to get all of the good stimulants off the shelves (DMAA, Ephedra and whatever else…), it may be worth trying out Kraken as soon as you can.

This pre workout doesn’t only have DMHA but it also has Eria Jarensis for further mood and energy support.

The 200mg caffeine may seem like a moderate dose, but with the combination of B12, NALT, DMHA and Eria Jarensis, you’ll surely feel in the zone with single scoop of this.

All the ingredients are clinically dosed so you know you’re getting more than enough to perform above and beyond.

We too did think that this was going to be another dixie-dosed concentrated pre workout but it turns out it’s much more.

The formula is impressive, we will have to find a spot for this on our strongest pre workout list.

If you’re used to taking a DMAA-based pre workout like Mesomorph but you prefer to have smooth focus with mood support and pumps, then you’ll find Kraken to be an extremely attractive alternative.

Try it out and if you have, let us know what you think in the comments below…

Ready To Crank Things Up?

For a company that has never created pre workouts before, Kraken has come out on top and has even hit our top 10 list.

Its intense energy formula and ingredients will leave you focused, pumped and primed for training.

We've never seen DMHA dosed this much, so give it a try if you want something strong.
