One of My Favorite Pre Workouts So Far

August 10, 2026

El Jefe is probably the best daily or semi daily pre-workout I've tried so far. It usually kicks in around 30 minutes, sometimes as quickly as 15 to 20 minutes, and the effects are very noticeable. The euphoria is probably the biggest standout for me. I find myself enjoying my music more, laughing more, and just feeling happier and more ready to move. The energy is strong without being overwhelming, and it usually lasts around six hours without a crash.

The focus is also excellent. I feel locked into my workouts, can keep track of my sets and reps, and have a really good mind muscle connection. The pumps are great too, especially for muscle groups that I normally have trouble getting a good pump with.

As far as side effects I noticed, you definitely get some tingles, and my heart rate noticeably increases. Taking two scoops also gave me pretty bad nausea and a little more anxiety than I liked. After dialing my dose back to around 1.25 to 1.5 scoops and eating something light with some carbs beforehand, I didn't really have any issues with nausea.

The Blue Cherry Slush flavor is probably the biggest weakness. It's very bitter and powdery, almost like chewing a Tylenol tablet. I'd give the flavor around a 3 out of 10. It's definitely not a pre-workout I'd recommend based on taste alone.

The only other thing I'd mention is the duration. Since the effects can stick around for around six hours, it can affect your sleep if you're someone who trains late at night or right before bed. For me, this became an issue because I like to train late, so I had to plan my workouts around when I could take it. If you train earlier in the day, I don't think this would really be an issue.

Compared to C4/C4 Ultimate, and Insane Labz Psychotic, El Jefe completely blows them out of the water for me. It's more euphoric, more focused, lasts longer, and I don't get the same crash I experienced with C4. Overall, I'd give El Jefe 4 out of 5 stars. The taste and nausea at higher doses are really the only things that hold it back for me. Outside of that, the actual workout experience is excellent, and I'd definitely recommend it.
