Quick Verdict
Main difference Bulk is the stronger all-around training formula. Lean uses a lighter performance base and adds cutting-support ingredients and micronutrients.
Choose Bulk Workout performance is the priority, better pumps, endurance and electrolytes.
Choose Lean You're actively cutting and specifically want the ALCAR, choline, huperzine A and mineral profile.
Bottom line Bulk is the better pre-workout for most people. Lean is the specialized cutting-phase option.
Expert Review
Pre-workouts since 2008 · 200+ tested

People frame this as "bulking vs cutting," but that's not really the choice. Both share the same core — citrulline, beta-alanine, betaine, PurCaf caffeine, theanine, theobromine. The difference is how much of the training formula you keep, and what gets added in its place.

Bulk keeps the full doses: 8g citrulline, 4g beta-alanine, 2.5g betaine, plus taurine, tyrosine, AlphaSize and real electrolytes. Lean trims all of those down and spends the room on acetyl-L-carnitine, choline, huperzine A and a mineral blend — iodine, selenium, copper, chromium.

In my experience Bulk is the one I reach for when the workout itself matters. It delivers smooth, reliable energy from 200mg of caffeine and was easier on my sleep than stronger pre-workouts in my experience. Lean felt useful during a cut and the minerals stood out to me versus stimulant-heavy fat burners — but that's my personal experience, not a promise it burns fat on its own. Nothing here replaces the diet.

Formula differences that matter

Both share the same seven-ingredient base — citrulline, beta-alanine, betaine, PurCaf caffeine, theanine, theobromine and BioPerine. So this isn't two unrelated products.

Bulk gives higher performance doses: 2g more citrulline, double the beta-alanine, 1g more betaine, plus taurine, tyrosine, AlphaSize, SenActiv and real electrolytes. Lean trades part of that away for acetyl-L-carnitine, choline, huperzine A and a cutting-oriented mineral blend (iodine, selenium, copper, chromium, more zinc). It's a meaningfully smaller pump and endurance base, not "Bulk with fat burners bolted on." And to be clear, Lean doesn't cause fat loss by itself — the deficit does.

Not built around cutting support
Can affect sleep used late
LEAN Cutting support
Pros
Slightly less caffeine
Fewer beta-alanine tingles
Adds 1g ALCAR
Choline + huperzine A focus
Iodine, selenium, copper, chromium, zinc
No artificial sweeteners or colors
Cons
Weaker pump formula
Half the beta-alanine
Almost no electrolytes
No taurine, tyrosine or AlphaSize
Only 20mg less caffeine than Bulk
Not an aggressive thermogenic
Final Verdict
Bulk is the better pre-workout for most people. It has higher doses of citrulline, beta-alanine and betaine, plus taurine, tyrosine, AlphaSize and considerably more electrolytes — for only 20mg more caffeine than Lean.
Lean is the specialized option for a cut. It runs a lighter performance base and adds acetyl-L-carnitine, choline, huperzine A and a metabolic-support mineral blend. Choose Bulk when workout performance is the priority — including while you're losing fat. Choose Lean when you deliberately want the lighter cutting-focused formula.

FAQ
What's the main difference between Bulk and Lean?
Bulk uses higher doses of pump, endurance, hydration and performance ingredients. Lean runs a lighter training base and adds ALCAR, choline, huperzine A and metabolic-support micronutrients.
Is Lean better for weight loss?
Lean is more specifically formulated for training during a cut, but it won't produce meaningful fat loss without an appropriate calorie deficit and training plan. The deficit does the work, not the powder.
Which has more caffeine?
Bulk has 200mg, Lean has 180mg. Both also contain 50mg theobromine. Only a 20mg difference.
Which is better for pumps and endurance?
Bulk on both, 8g citrulline vs 6g for pumps, and 4g beta-alanine vs 2g for endurance, plus more betaine and electrolytes.
Can I take Bulk while cutting?
Yes. A product named "Bulk" doesn't require a calorie surplus. It's often the better choice on a cut when keeping training performance up matters more than Lean's micronutrient profile.
Can Bulk and Lean be stacked?
Don't stack full servings, they duplicate caffeine, theobromine, theanine, citrulline, beta-alanine, betaine and BioPerine. The combination is unnecessary.
Does Lean contain Infinergy, synephrine or yohimbine?
None appear on the current Supplement Facts panel. The current caffeine source is 180mg PurCaf organic caffeine. Older copy that mentioned Infinergy or synephrine is out of date.
