Quick Verdict
Main difference Bulk is a full caffeinated pre-workout. Pump is stimulant-free and built around pumps and blood flow, with no caffeine at all.
Choose Bulk You want one product that does everything, energy, focus, pumps and endurance in a single scoop.
Choose Pump You train at night, are cutting caffeine, or want a dedicated pump formula to complement a weak-pump pre.
Bottom line Bulk is better as a complete standalone pre-workout. Pump is better for stimulant-free sessions or adding pumps to a weaker formula.
Expert Review
Pre-workouts since 2008 · 200+ tested

This one confuses people because they assume it's "which pre-workout is stronger." It isn't. Bulk is a complete caffeinated pre-workout — energy, focus, pumps and endurance in one scoop. Pump is a stimulant-free pump formula. They're solving different problems.

Bulk runs 8g citrulline, 4g beta-alanine, 2.5g betaine, taurine, tyrosine, AlphaSize and 200mg caffeine. Pump drops caffeine entirely and instead pairs 8g L-citrulline with NO3-T arginine nitrate for a two-pathway nitric oxide hit, plus betaine and AstraGin for absorption. No stimulants, so it avoids caffeine-related sleep disruption.

In my experience Bulk is the daily driver when I want everything from one scoop. I reach for Pump on evening sessions, on caffeine-break days, or when I already had coffee and just want the pumps without more stimulant on top. It can also complement selected formulas with weak pump support — but you don't do that with Bulk, since Bulk already covers pumps.

Formula differences that matter

The overlap is the pump base — both list 8g of a citrulline ingredient, but Pump uses 8g pure L-citrulline and adds 2.5g arginine nitrate, plus both share 2.5g betaine. That's where the similarity ends.

Bulk is a full pre-workout: it adds 200mg caffeine, 4g beta-alanine, tyrosine, AlphaSize and theanine, so you get energy, focus and endurance on top of the pump. Pump is deliberately stripped to one job: no caffeine, but it adds NO3-T arginine nitrate for a second nitric-oxide pathway alongside the citrulline, plus AstraGin to improve absorption. So Pump isn't "Bulk minus caffeine" — it's a more pump-specialized nitric-oxide formula that happens to be stim-free. The practical upshot: Bulk replaces your whole pre-workout, Pump either replaces it on no-stim days or can complement selected formulas with weak pump support.

BULK: All-in-one
Pros
Complete pre-workout in one scoop
200mg caffeine for real energy
Strong 8g citrulline pump base
4g beta-alanine for endurance
Tyrosine + AlphaSize focus
No artificial sweeteners or colors
Cons
Caffeine rules out late sessions
Beta-alanine tingles
Single nitric-oxide pathway
No added absorption aid beyond BioPerine
Can't be stacked with another stim pre
PUMP: Stim-free pump
Pros
Zero caffeine, no crash or jitters
Dual NO pathway (citrulline + nitrate)
Fine for evening training
AstraGin for better absorption
Can complement weak-pump formulas
No artificial sweeteners or colors
Cons
No energy or drive by design
Not a full pre-workout on its own
Less focus support than Bulk
Lighter on endurance ingredients
Nitrates aren't for everyone
Final Verdict
For most people, Bulk is the one to buy. It's a complete pre-workout — energy, focus, pumps and endurance in a single scoop, so if you only want one product, this is it.
Pump isn't a weaker Bulk, it's a different tool. Stim-free, dual-pathway pumps, and it can complement selected formulas with weak pump support. Buy Pump if you train late, cycle off caffeine, or want a pump formula to complement selected formulas with weak pump support. Plenty of people end up owning both: Bulk for training days, Pump for evening or no-stim sessions. If you're only choosing one and you can have caffeine, start with Bulk.

Bulk has the wider flavor range. Pump has fewer options but mixes thinner, which suits a stim-free pump drink. I ranked the Bulk flavors separately.

FAQ
What's the difference between Bulk and Pump?
Bulk is a full caffeinated pre-workout, energy, focus, pumps and endurance in one scoop. Pump is stimulant-free and built specifically around pumps and blood flow, with no caffeine. Bulk replaces your pre-workout; Pump is a specialist you can use alone at night or stack onto another pre.
Does Pump have any caffeine?
No. Pump is completely stimulant-free. That's the whole point, you get the pump and blood-flow benefits without anything that affects sleep, so it's fine for evening training.
Can I take Bulk and Pump together?
You can, but it's usually unnecessary, Bulk already has a strong 8g citrulline pump base, so adding Pump is redundant. Pump is designed to stack onto lighter or stim-only pre-workouts that skimp on pump ingredients, not onto Bulk.
Which gives better pumps?
Pump, slightly. Both run 8g citrulline, but Pump adds NO3-T arginine nitrate for a second nitric-oxide pathway plus AstraGin for absorption, so it's a touch more pump-specialized. Bulk's pumps are still strong, they're just one part of a bigger formula.
Which is better for evening workouts?
Pump, clearly. With zero caffeine, it is much less likely to disrupt sleep than Bulk. Bulk's 200mg caffeine can be a problem within about five to six hours of bed.
If I can only buy one, which should it be?
If you can take caffeine, buy Bulk, it does everything in one scoop. Only choose Pump as your single product if you specifically can't or don't want stimulants.
Is Pump the same as Stim-Free?
No. Both are caffeine-free, but Pump is built around nitric oxide and pumps (citrulline plus arginine nitrate), while Stim-Free is closer to a full caffeine-free training formula with beta-alanine, tyrosine and elevATP. Different jobs.
