I expected Ghost Oreo to be the easy winner.
Ghost has a reputation for making some of the best-tasting protein powders, and once you mix Oreo up you can immediately see why people like it.
There are actual cookie pieces, the Oreo flavor comes through clearly and it feels much closer to a milkshake than a basic protein powder.
But that is also the problem I had with it.
I tested it in water, and even then it was surprisingly thick and heavy. It filled me up quickly and felt more like drinking a dessert than an everyday protein shake.
The powder mixed well, so I am not talking about clumps or poor mixability. That heavy texture is simply part of the experience.
Compared with something like Transparent Labs Whey Isolate, the difference is obvious.
Transparent Labs feels much more like something I can use every day. It is lighter, leaner and much easier for me to fit into a normal routine.
Ghost is what I would choose when I specifically want the dessert experience.
I also tested Ghost Oreo directly against RYSE Loaded Jet-Puffed Marshmallow.
At first I preferred Ghost because Oreo was the more interesting and complex flavor.
But as I kept drinking both shakes, I eventually leaned toward RYSE because it was simpler and easier to finish.
That is why I would not put Ghost in the same tier as my favorite everyday proteins.
It tastes good. The formula is solid. The digestive enzymes are useful additions.
But for me, it is simply too heavy to be an elite all-around protein.
That puts it at 8.2/10.
The Oreo flavor I tested tasted much closer to Oreo milk than a generic cookies-and-cream protein.
The cookie pieces were noticeable and made the flavor more interesting and convincing.
The first few drinks were very good.
The issue was what happened as I kept drinking it.
The combination of sweetness, cookie flavor and thick texture started becoming a little much.
There is also a slight artificial edge.
So I would describe Oreo as a good dessert protein rather than an especially drinkable everyday shake.

Ghost Oreo mixed cleanly in water, including the cookie pieces.
The finished shake was still very thick and substantial.
This is not a thin whey-isolate texture.
It filled me up quickly and felt considerably heavier than Transparent Labs Whey Isolate.
In my direct comparison with RYSE Loaded, Ghost Oreo was also the heavier shake.
RYSE Jet-Puffed Marshmallow was simpler and ultimately easier for me to drink.
Bottom line: Ghost mixes well, but expect a thick, filling dessert-style shake.
Ghost Whey includes added digestive enzymes including protease/proteases, bromelain and lactase.
That gives the formula more digestion-focused additions than a basic whey blend without an enzyme system.
Lactase is particularly relevant because Ghost Whey is still a dairy-based whey blend containing whey concentrate.
The presence of digestive enzymes does not mean everyone will automatically find Ghost easy to digest.
Individual tolerance to whey, lactose, gums, sweeteners and flavor-specific ingredients varies.
These are very different protein powders.
Ghost is the better fit when I specifically want a rich, dessert-style shake.
Transparent Labs is the better fit for me as an everyday protein.
Transparent Labs gives me more protein per serving, leaner macros and a much lighter shake. I have also tested far more of its flavor lineup, so I have much more firsthand evidence behind that recommendation.
Ghost Oreo had the more dramatic dessert experience, but it was also much heavier and more filling.
That is why I rate Ghost 8.2/10 while Transparent Labs Whey Isolate remains 8.7/10.
Choose Ghost if: you specifically want a thick dessert-style protein or Ghost's collab flavors.
Choose Transparent Labs if: you want the protein I consider better suited to everyday use.
I tested Ghost Oreo directly against RYSE Loaded Jet-Puffed Marshmallow using the same amount of water.
Ghost had the more interesting flavor at first.
The Oreo pieces made it taste richer and more complex.
But Ghost was also the heavier shake.
As I kept drinking both, I ultimately preferred RYSE because it was simpler and easier to finish.
That does not mean RYSE automatically has the better formula.
It means that in my actual side-by-side drinking test, RYSE was more drinkable.
Choose Ghost if: you want the richer, more complex collab-style experience.
Choose RYSE if: you want the one I found easier to drink in this specific comparison.
