All 8 flavors mixed with room temperature water. Tested side by side in one sitting right after a workout. Tiny sips only because Lean has active stim content. Sweet but not heavy. Tart but not sharp. Zero bitterness. The aftertaste disappears almost instantly. Way cleaner than the Bulk version of Blue Raspberry.

Accurate cherry that leans slightly tart. No heavy sweetness or chemical note. The more I sipped it, the more it made sense near the top.

This one climbed after retesting. First pass it seemed good but unremarkable. Second pass I noticed it never gets heavy and never gets sweet in a bad way.

The tartness keeps it refreshing in a way that most cherry flavors miss completely. Cherry flavors are usually either too fake or too syrupy — this one avoids both.

Accurate right from the first sip. Good level of sweetness with a hint of saltiness. The strawberry and lemon blend well together, especially for a naturally flavored formula.

There is a light bitter note that shows up at the end — it does not ruin the flavor but it is there. Still very drinkable and consistent between sips.

The smell on this one is honestly amazing. First sip is accurate, refreshing, and easy to drink. But as you keep sipping, the tartness becomes more noticeable and there is a slight artificial touch to the aftertaste.

It is the type of flavor that might be great one day and feel a bit much the next. Not bad at all — just not top tier for easy rotation. Interesting that Tropical Punch is #1 in the Bulk lineup but drops to #5 in Lean.

Straight grape candy vibe. Smells strong, tastes bold, has personality. This is the most "fun" flavor in the lineup.

But the aftertaste leans artificial once it settles in. More of an occasional treat than something you want to finish a full tub of. Interesting note: Sour Grape is #2 in the Bulk ranking but drops to #6 here because Lean's cleaner base makes the artificial edge more noticeable.

Smells great but the flavor leans too sweet for regular use. There is a noticeable chemical aftertaste that comes in fast.

What surprised me most

The biggest surprise was how much side-by-side testing changed the rankings. Some flavors that tasted great on a random workout started getting tiring fast once compared directly against the cleaner options.

Lean also tastes noticeably cleaner than Bulk overall. Less grit, less stevia bite, and less flavor fatigue across full servings.

The fruit-based flavors consistently performed better long-term than the candy-style flavors. The more artificial the flavor profile leaned, the faster it became noticeable after multiple sips.

Bottom Line

None of these flavors are bad. Transparent Labs did a strong job across the board considering everything is naturally sweetened with no artificial coloring. But when you line them up back to back, the differences show up some stay clean, some get heavy, and some pick up that chemical edge that pushes them down.

If you want the safest year-round picks: Blue Raspberry or Green Apple. If you want something brighter and more tart: Cherry Splash. If you want a candy treat: Sour Grape works but rotate it. Orange is dependable. Fruit Punch is fine but outperformed by everything else.

Overall, Lean tastes cleaner than Bulk. Less grit, less stevia bite, easier to finish a full tub without flavor fatigue. If you have tried the Bulk flavor rankings and found some too heavy, the Lean versions will likely sit better with you.
