I've used Transparent Labs whey for years and tested 21 flavors across water, milk, smoothies, yogurt and recipes.
The biggest advantage is not that grass-fed whey somehow builds more muscle than every other protein. It's that you get a high-protein isolate with a clean ingredient list, generally good digestion, and enough flavors that most people can find one they'll actually drink consistently.
The formula is especially useful when I want protein without adding many carbs or fats. It mixes easily and doesn't feel as heavy as many whey concentrates in my experience.
Taste is the more complicated part. Some flavors are among the best naturally sweetened proteins I've used. Others get too sweet, too stevia-heavy, or simply don't match the name on the label. That's why I recommend choosing on the formula, then using the ranking to avoid the weaker flavors.
The product is excellent. The price and flavor inconsistency are what stop it from scoring higher.
This review covers the formula, protein quality, digestion and price. For which flavor to order, see the dedicated 21-flavor ranking linked below.
WheyΒ isolateΒ gives a higher protein percentage with less carb and fat than a typical concentrate.
It's naturally sweetened β no sucralose or acesulfame potassium β and currently offers one of the largest flavor ranges in the category.
2LB and 4LB options let you choose variety or better bulk value, and the product is third-party tested. Because the formula changes slightly by flavor, one macro panel shouldn't be treated as universal.
My ranking covers 21 flavors I personally tested. Transparent Labs regularly adds, renames or retires flavors, so the live count above shows what's currently available.Β See the full flavor ranking β
Use one scoop whenever it makes hitting your daily protein target easier.
Water gives the lowest-calorie shake; milk improves creaminess and flavor. It also works in smoothies, oatmeal, yogurt and baking.
The brand promotes post-workout use, but whey isolate doesn't have to be consumed immediately after training β total daily protein matters more than exact timing.
