Bottom Line

Steel Supplements are a popular company that makes a range of supplements.

One of them being in the category of pre workouts.

From their AMPED AF, to CHARGED AF and PUMP AF, they have a lot of AF's to go around.

AMPED AF has gained a lot of popularity and it's still one of the most purchased pre workouts today.

The other pre workout CHARGED AF is suppose to be less of a stim-junkie level pre workout while AMPED AF is suppose to be the best choice for very strong energy.

It's made out of a two part formula, with the stimulant blend being in a big prop blend.

If you're looking for strong pre workouts, you'll find plenty on this list.

If there's one thing about pre workouts that people like…

It would probably be the caffeine.

It's great for energy but it's also where companies can take shortcuts.

Steel Supplements is a popular company for their wide range of supplements, from prohormones, to pre workouts and intra workouts

Their AMPED AF is known to be a stim-junkie level pre workout.

But the profile is mixed with a big proprietary blend and 3 strength aids.

And CHARGED AF is a similar pre workout, with the same style of ingredients, with only 3 ergogenic aids and a big prop blend of stimulants.

However CHARGED AF is just a little bit different than AMPED AF, as you'll see how down below…

AMPED AF Review

If there's one thing that this pre workout needs is that a review.

The thing is that it contains a big proprietary blend.

So there isn't really any telling how this pre workout will feel without actually trying it.

And because of the prop blend, we can say it can be risky without knowing how much of each ingredient you're getting as it's full of stimulants.

And a lot of them are fairly new stimulants to the pre workout world.

The flavor is okay as I had black cherry, but the experience was something else.

Amped hits hard and fast, it feels like it's mostly a stimulant based pre workout.

No one is buying this for the 4g of citrulline, although that's not to say that's a bad dose, it's just very minimum.

The tingles will be felt as it has a big full dose of 3.2g beta alanine, along with a muscle building ingredient betaine anhydrous.

It hits really hard.

The waves of urgency hits hard and it lasts a while.

In fact, it increased my heart rate so much that I was almost overwhelmed by it.

The urgency and energy lasts for at least 4 hours after drinking it.

Amped AF is not going to be a pre workout for the average lifter, but if you need this kind of energy then you might like it.

AMPED AF Ingredients

Knowing how labels should look on a top performing pre workout, we see this formula and can't help but shake our heads.

AMPED AF starts off with 4g citrulline, a little under the clinical dose but makes up for it with 3.2g beta alanine and 2.5g betaine anhydrous.

The stimulants are packed into a proprietary blend which is something that is rare to see in the best pre workouts.

In this day and age, there's no reason why any pre workouts should have proprietary blends as it's something that was commonly done decades ago to keep a formula a secret.

But these days, it's easy to find out what the dosage should be for any ingredient, thanks to the recommendations by the communities, research and valuable resources like examine.com.

And another big issue is that AMPED AF has a blend called One3, which is made out of arecoline hydrobromide, cymbidium goeringii and Higenamine.

One of those ingredients, arecoline, has a bunch of warnings for reducing immune system function.

If you're wondering whether to go with AMPED AF or another pre workout, well you know we 110% can recommend Wrecked Extreme is the better alternative for it's fully open formula and properly dosed ergogenic aids.

Charged AF Ingredients

CHARGED AF has a similar profile to AMPED AF but it's a little different in effects.

While AMPED AF will make you feel on the edge of a anxiety attack because of it's strong stimulant profile, CHARGED AF has a stimulant blend that's a tad lighter.

It has the same ergogenic aids, but the stimulants will be where it starts to feel different.

CHARGED AF gives a bit of a energy where you'll feel nice in mood, but it mostly feels like a buzz type of feeling, where you're a bit warmer and feel like you can flow throughout the workout in a good mood with nice energy in the background.

And that's what makes CHARGED AF different as it's just at little lighter in energy than AMPED AF.

But that's all you're paying for with these two supplements.

Each serving barely has 11g of ingredients,  and it costs $50 per bottle, making both very expensive for what you're getting.

Overwhelming AMPED AF Experience

If there's one thing that AMPED AF can do is that it can increase energy.

But there's a downside to it.

While I've taken this many times, it increases the heart rate to the point where things just get unproductive.

It's hard to breathe and my heart just feels like it can barely keep up.

Any fast movement or exercise would increase the intensity of the heart beating which would make things really uncomfortable.

It seems like they've packed as much as they can in the 1.5g blend of stimulants.

Honestly I've had better stim-junkie pre workouts with more results.

Although you don't need to take more than a scoop with AMPED AF, it's still an expensive pre workout at $55 for a pre workout that only contains a few ergogenic aids and a big prop blend of stimulants.

There's no way you can stack a fat burner or anything with stimulants with AMPED AF, it's already strong on it's own.

You can stack a BCAA or an intra workout but nothing with caffeine or stims.

The best alternative we recommend is Wrecked.

This pre workout has better energy, makes you feel like you need to urgently lift weights.

And it's a very productive pre workout where you can truly get more things done without feeling like you'll have an panic attack.

FDA Warns Steel Supplements

So, Steel Supplements, the company behind Amped-AF, got a pretty serious letter from the FDA in May 2022.

The FDA wasn't too happy, saying that some of the ingredients in their products, including Amped-AF, aren't what they call "dietary ingredients."

One example they gave was hordenine, which is listed on the Amped-AF label. The FDA says it doesn't fit into any of their categories for dietary ingredients.

It's not a vitamin, mineral, amino acid, herb, or anything else that fits their definition.

Here's where it gets a bit tricky.

If a substance isn't recognized as safe for use in food by the experts, and it doesn't fit into any other exemptions, it's considered a food additive.

These additives need to be approved before they can be used, based on data showing they're safe. If they're not approved, they're considered unsafe and make the food, or in this case, supplement, adulterated.

The FDA made it clear that selling adulterated food is a no-go. They've warned Steel Supplements that if they don't sort this out, they could face legal action, including possible seizure of their products or an injunction.

This is a big deal and something you should definitely keep in mind when you're deciding on a supplement. Safety should always be a top priority, and this FDA warning raises some serious questions about Amped-AF.

What Does The Online Community Think of Amped AF?

The buzz around Steel Supplements' Amped AF pre-workout is quite the mixed bag if you take a peek at Reddit and other social media chatter.

On one hand, you've got gym-goers who can't stop raving about the energy surge they get from Amped AF.

They're talking about laser-like focus, stamina that just won't quit, and workouts cranked up to maximum intensity.

Ingredients like L-Citrulline, Beta Alanine, and a cocktail of stimulants are getting shout-outs for fueling these workout wins.

But, flip the coin and you'll find folks who aren't exactly fans. T

hey've experienced the jitters, heart flutters, and sleepless nights, likely thanks to the hefty dose of caffeine and other potent stimulants in the mix.

Plus, some are grumbling about the price tag, saying it's a bit steep compared to other pre-workouts.

Then there's the elephant in the room - the FDA warning letter. Turns out, the FDA has put a red flag on some of Amped AF's ingredients, namely Hordenine and Higenamine. This has raised a few eyebrows and even led some users to drop the product like a hot potato.

But, despite the FDA warning and the side effects, there are those who swear by Amped AF.

They say it's their go-to pre-workout and they haven't had any issues.

It's a reminder that everyone's body reacts differently, and what works for one person might not work for another.

So, what's the bottom line on Amped AF? Well, it's got its cheerleaders and its critics.

The FDA warning has certainly stirred the pot and made things a bit more complicated. As with any supplement, it's a good idea to have a chat with your healthcare pro before diving in.

Crack is a decently strong pre-workout to consider.

Is AMPED AF Worth It?

If you're hoping to feel like you've had about 12 cups of coffee, then you may enjoy AMPED AF.

This pre workout simply isn't productive for us and we think there's better pre workouts than AMPED AF.

This pre workout tries hard to be a concentrate but fails by using a 1.5g stimulant blend that looks good if it was released before 2012.

It would've been better if they used DMAA instead of trying to replicate it by using a bunch of stimulants that result it a overly jittery mess with a mix of anxiety.

AMPED AF: Too Expensive For It's Formula

AMPED AF is a pre workout with tons of stimulants to help you power through your workouts but does it with a big stimulant blend that results in more anxiety and jitters than anything productive.
