Bottom Line

There's an energy drink for everyone.

Bang however isn't just for anyone.

It's made specifically for lifting and it has ingredients that will support performance and energy in the gym.

There's quite a bit of caffeine along with other ingredients that will help support exercise and muscle gains.

Although it has creatine, it may not have enough to see the traditional benefits that come from full dosages.

BETTER ALTERNATIVE

Bang has quickly grown into one of the most popular energy drinks on the market.

They separated themselves from the crowd of choices by including amino acids and super creatine.

But you're probably asking, what's super creatine?

And is there even enough creatine to make a difference?

Let's find out...

How Much Creatine is in Bang?

It may be surprising to find out, but Bang energy drinks doesn't have any creatine in them.

Instead they use creatyl-l-leucine, which is a form of creatine bonded to leucine, aka super creatine.

There's 5mg of super creatine in Bang.

We know this because the FDA (Food and Drug Administration makes it mandatory for companies to list ingredients in descending order of weight.

With this in mind, we can determine the amount of creatine based on the dosages of the other ingredients that are listed with super creatine.

Here's the nutritional label for Bang:

VPX doesn't show how much super creatine is in Bang, but we can see they've disclosed the dosage of magnesium chloride at 5mg and calcium chloride at 5mg.

Because super creatine is in the middle of these two ingredients, we can conclude that there's about 5mg of super creatine in a Bang energy drink.

So Does Bang Really Contain Creatine?

Interestingly enough, the answer to this is no they don't include creatine in Bang energy drinks.

They use a proprietary blend called super creatine which is creatine bonded with leucine.

This is what the company VPX makes Bang energy stand out in the saturated market of energy drinks.

But in reality, super creatine isn't bioavailable nor has it been shown to have benefits.

There is no research supporting the claims of performance benefits in the gym, so it doesn't have anything beneficial for muscle mass or growth.

With this in mind, Bang has still made some claims about the patented blend called super creatine.

Here are some of those claims...

Bang energy can:

  • Boosts brain function
  • Boosts muscle mass and growth
  • Support energy production
  • Effective at crossing the blood-brain barrier

Unfortunately, none of these claims are backed with research.

With tiny amounts of super creatine, this form of creatine has not been accepted as a beneficial form of creatine.

VPX claims that Bang can benefit mental and physical performance but there isn't any scientific research backing these claims.

And these claims are not supported by the FDA.

What is Super Creatine?

The owner, John Owoc, of Bang energy drink patented super creatine.

Super creatine or creatyl-l-leucine is a blend that has creatine bonded with leucine, an amino acid.

Bang energy drinks have claimed that super creatine produces creatine in the body.

Creatyl-l-leucine has been debunked and shown to not be a bioavailable form of creatine and does not help the body saturate itself with creatine anywhere.

Is Super Creatine Legit?

Unfortunately, super creatine is useless as it's not bioavailable and there aren't any studies supporting its benefits.

Everything else about Bang energy drinks are about average as super creatine was the only thing making it stand out from the competition.

On the positive side, Bang doesn't contain calories and is sugar-free, and it does have a little bit of branch amino acids.

What is Creatine?

Creatine is one of the most researched supplements.

Its benefits to improve strength and muscle mass, as well as enhancing cognition and reducing mental fatigue have been well documented.

Creatine works by increasing ATP production by increasing the phosphocreatine stores in the muscles. More ATP means more energy during intense exercise.

Better ATP production can also increase performance and recovery.

Is Bang Energy Drink Healthy?

Bang energy drinks don't contain any calories or sugar.

It isn't unhealthy but it also doesn't have anything special for the health other than small amounts of BCAA's.

How Much Caffeine is in Bang?

Bang contains one of the highest amounts of caffeine in the energy drink category.

Caffeine has been well researched to show benefits for physical and mental performance.

Having too much though can be bad and will have negative side effects.

Bang has 300mg of caffeine in every 16-oz can.

With caffeine content, Bang is among the highest containing on the market.

The FDA recommends a maximum daily caffeine limit of 400mg per day.

Is Bang Worth It?

If you're buying Bang for the caffeine, then yes it can be worth it.

But if you're getting it for your creatine consumption, you're better off not buying it.

The taste and caffeine are the only things going for it.

Go for plain creatine monohydrate if you want to make the most out of your workouts.

What's a Better Alternative?

A much better alterative for Bang energy drinks is Ghost energy drinks.

This energy drink is cheaper and it contains a label that is mostly disclosed.

You're getting better dosages for ingredients that will support mental and physical performance.
