Bottom Line

BZRK is packed with vasodilators, stimulants and thermogenics that will create a synergistic blend of “magic”.

It has a prop blend but we’ve made a guesstimate on what is dosed at what inside.

While it’s been tweaked to have isopropylnorsynephrine instead of DMHA, it is still quite a potent pre workout.

Paragra

I know what you might be thinking…

Oh great, another pre workout

What could this one do differently than the other hundreds of pre workouts?

With a brand name like Black Magic Supply, you’d have to assume they are doing things a little darker than the average supplement company.

And you would be correct.

Black Magic Supply is a relatively new brand but with a unique take on supplements.

They created BZRK with a potent formula, with a potent blend of nitric oxide enhancers and stimulants.

At first it had DMHA, but it’s been tweaked to have a stronger form of synephrine instead.

And boy does it work well.

While we know there’s (350mg) of caffeine, we don’t know how much of the other stimulants are dosed at.

We’ve made a guess on the dosages as you’ll see in the ingredients section.

Given this though, BZRK still hits hard in the energy, euphoria and pump departments.

We can only hope Black Magic Supply will adapt to fully open formulas, but until then, we’re excited to share what BZRK delivers on and how it works as it is quite an impressive pre workout.

What To Expect

BZRK isn’t your average pre workout.

What sets it apart isn’t only the 25 full servings and the (21g) scoops but the blend of stimulants and nootropics makes it deliver well in nearly every department of pre workouts.

From higenamine and huperzine working to keep your acetylcholine production up, to the synephrine and (350mg) caffeine, everything works well in synergy to keep your focus and energy on point.

Some of the ingredients are typically used in thermogenics, so expect a bit of fat loss with appetite suppressing effects.

While some

Ingredients

Now we don’t like prop blends.

It isn’t needed.

But it’s here in BZRK and it doesn’t make it a bad pre workout but it does look bad to us.

In this day and age, almost every supplement is disclosed.

Here’s what we think the prop blend is made out of:

  • (1g) Tyrosine
  • (350) Caffeine (confirmed)
  • (125mg) Isopropylnorsynephrine
  • (50mg) Kola Nut Extract 4:!
  • (50mg) N-Methyltyramine HCl
  • (50mg) Neurofactor
  • (0.10mg) Huperzine

This is our best guess and synephrine could be dosed a little less while a bit more could be going into kola nut extract.

But for a formula that tweaked and reformulated to remove DMHA, Black Magic Supply has done well and the focus here is superb.

The full 25 serving supply with (21g) scoops is quite nice and optimal for pricing as most pre workouts either have the regular 20 servings or 40 servings with tiny scoops.

Citrulline Malate (7g)

Citrulline is commonly used in pre workouts because of it’s fatigue fighting abilities, nitric oxide enhancements and overall performance.

Studies prove time and time again how useful citrulline can be.

The reason why it works so well is because it converts into arginine, then it gets turned into an enzyme called nitric oxide synthase [1], and that converts into nitric oxide.

Nitric oxide helps muscle building because it can increase blood vessels, allowing for more nutrients to be delivered to working muscles.

This forces metabolic waste to get cleared out more efficiently, like lactic acid.

Citrulline works in synergy with beta alanine, which is coming up next.

Both of these compounds can clear out lactic acid and decrease fatigue while increasing work capacity and decreasing fatigue.

Since citrulline can increase vadolidation [2], it’ll allow for the other ingredients to get delivered and shuttled into working muscles.

Most pre workouts contain citrulline, it isn’t anything special.

But how it’s formulated matters because as you can see, the ingredients included can have a synergistic effect.

Since citrulline can increase nitric oxide production, it works well with the other nitric oxide boosters here like gylcerpump, betaine, and beta alanine.

BetaO (3.2g)

Beta alanine, like creatine, is a proven muscle builder by many studies and backed with years of research.

It’s that one ingredient that leaves you feeling with tingles all over.

This is a unique form as it’s combined with orotic acid.

Orotic acid performs the same functions as beta alanine, but honestly we don’t know how much more beneficial it is to have a 2-in-1 ingredient like this.

How beta alanine works is that it binds to an amino acid called histidine in muscle cells, then forms carnosine [3] .

This buffers and delays lactic acid build up, increasing work capacity [4], reduces fatigue [5], increases peak power output [6] and helps with overall athletic performance. [7]

The tingles from beta alanine, but they will subside as you become saturated with it.

We recommend having beta alanine and creatine in bulk so you don’t need to depend on pre workouts for saturation and benefits.

For only $0.15-$0.20 per serving, the return on investment on gains is well worth it.

Glycerpump (2.5g)

Glycerol is a compound you’ve most likely used before.

This is a popular ingredient in supplements because of its ability to draw water to muscles, allowing you to instantly blow up in size.

But there’s two major issues that this causes and that’s clumping and it’s low dose yield.

Gylcerpump solves this because it’s 65% glycerol and it doesn’t clump because it’s been spray dried.

Like creatine, you need to drink loads of water in order for it to work because it works like a sponge, it draws in more water between muscle cells.

It creates a hyperhydrated state [8], leading to more water pumps.

However to get the most out of glycerol you’ll need to consume a lot of water or you won’t get the maximum effect from it.

Keyz is a EAA/BCAA formula made to help recovery and fight fatigue

Betaine Anhydrous (2.5g)

After beta alanine and creatine, betaine is one of the widely accepted muscle builders to be rated among the best.

Betaine anhydrous is an osmolyte and a methyl donor [9], which can regulate cellular hydration and help increase fluid levels in cells.

Being able to donate a methyl group to homocysteine, means it can increase protein synthesis and this will help with size and strength gains.

Homocysteine is a non-proteinogenic amino acid which can cause problems when it’s elevated as it can have a negative impact on muscle protein synthesis.

Since betaine is a methyl donor, it has the ability to donate a methyl group, and by doing this it can reduce homocysteine. [10]

Elevated homocysteine leads to increased health risks like heart disease, birth defects, macular degeneration and even cancer. [11]

Aside from that, it can also increase strength in just two weeks as researchers noted improvements with vertical jump power output, bench press throw power output, and force production in isometric bench press and back squat. [12]

Betaine is also seen to increase reps and training volume after supplementing betaine for just two weeks. [13]

And betaine, since it’s an osmolyte like creatine, it may increase pumps. [14]

Tyrosine

If there’s one ingredient that works well with caffeine and that isn’t a stimulant, it’s definitely tyrosine.

Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid that is a precursor to catecholamines (norepinephrine, epinephrine, dopamine) [15]

Caffeine releases these catecholamines, but tyrosine helps produce them.

Tyrosine and caffeine work in synergy to produce more energy, alertness, euphoria and enhance performance.

You’ll need tyrosine for a hard hitting pre workout like this as it can help alleviate stress and anxiety. [1617]

Caffeine

Caffeine, as you probably know, is the grandfather of all stimulants.

It’s been proven by many studies by its efficiency.

Although we love exotic stimulants, caffeine is a staple to any stimulant-based formula.

Although the stimulants are in a prop blend, we know there’s (350mg) of total caffeine.

Some of this may be coming from kola nut extract.

So this stimulant is a tried and true performance enhancer.

It’s a fast acting stimulant and it gets you going as soon as you consume it.

How well it increases energy is well researched and documented [18] and its effects are quite strong for performance enhancing.

In fact, one study conducted in 2010 found not only did cyclists have increased performance but it also increases strength in a dose dependent manner. [19]

Taking anywhere from (5mg) to (6mg) per kg of bodyweight provides a significant performance boost, which comes out to (400mg) if you weigh (180lbs). [20]

Although most pre workouts that have exotic stimulants will have anywhere from (250) to (350mg) of caffeine.

BZRK has (350mg) which is perfect.

We would recommend sticking to a dose that’s as low as possible with caffeine as it can act as a crotch to training, you won’t want to train without it.

Isopropylnorsynephrine

Since BZRK has been reformulated, it no longer has DMHA and has since replaced it with isopropylnorsynephrine.

That might be sad news for some, although you can buy bulk DMHA or  and add it to any regular pre workout and turn it into a exotic one, it’s since been replaced with isopropylnorsynephrine.

And this is the good news.

Isopropylnorsynephrine is a stronger form of synephrine.

Synephrine is a compound derived from bitter orange, and it’s typically used in fat burners for it’s appetite suppression effects and energy enhancements.

How it works is that it breaks down triglycerides into fatty acids and glycerol [21], and it’s actually stronger than regular synephrine at burning fat.

It does exactly what synephrine does, which is turning on beta receptors and inhibiting alpha adrenergic receptors. [22]

While DMHA would bring in smooth energy, synephrine has replaced it and it may have better energy effects since it is not only backed with research on fat burning but it has faster acting effects on energy.

Kola Nut Extract 4:1

This ingredient is interesting.

Kola Nut has traditionally been used as medicine and in cultural rituals.

It’s technically a fruit, that contains both caffeine and theobromine and this gives it unique fat burning effects.

It suppresses hunger, increases focus and has diuretic effects. [23]

This extract is a 4:1, meaning you’ll need less of it to have it’s desired effects.

Full spectrum kola nut extracts would require (550mg) for its effects, while this 4:1 would only need (75mg) to (125mg).

Our guess though is it’s dosed anywhere between (50-60mg), so while you’re not getting (75mg), it’s still effective as it’s combined with other stimulants here and we still have more on the way.

N-Methyl Tyramine

This is another stimulant that makes BZRK so potent.

N-methyl tyramine is a beta-2 agonist that can increase motivation by activating the “fight or flight” response that we have.

Like synephrine, it works by freeing up fatty acids.

It boosts cAMP production, which leads to more epinephrine and glucagon secretion, enhancing mood and energy. [24]

It’s quite underrated as it’s a superb ingredient for not only focus and energy but motivation as well.

There’s probably (50mg) of it here and it will stack up well with tyrosine, higenamine, caffeine and synephrine, which are all included in BZRK.

Higenamine HCl

Yet another strong stimulant to make BZRK a potent pre workout.

Higenamine is an appetite suppressing ingredient that works like ephedrine but is considered to be a safer alternative.

In fact, because it works as a bronchodilator and that it works well as a performance enhancer, it’s been banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency. [25

And it works well when it’s stacked with choline and huperzine because it can increase acetylcholine release. [26]

Although BZRK doesn’t have choline, it has huperzine.

So make sure you have a source of choline like from your diet to make the most out of these 2 ingredients.

Neurofactor

This is another patented ingredient BZRK and it’s produced by the respectable company FutureCeuticals.

Neurofactor is best known to increase levels of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF).

This protein is found in abundance amounts in the brain. [27]

BDNF is crucial for new neurons, and not only is it neuroprotective but it’s also anti inflammatory and has immunomodulatory properties. [28]

This protein is found all over the brain, and it also exists in different systems of the body, including cardiovascular, endocrine, immune and reproductive systems.

It’s crucial for brain health and function. [29]

Consuming just (100mg) increases blood levels of BDNF after just 60 minutes, as seen in a study conducted by the British Journal of Nutrition. [30]

But at our estimates, there is probably around (50mg) of NeuroFactor in BZRK.

While this is underdosed compared to what was used in the studies, it is still beneficial to have.

Huperzine A (1%)

Huperzine is a popular nootropic because of its ability to increase focus and concentration.

For bodybuilding, it’s popular because it can create a solid mind to muscle connection.

Huperzine, or sometimes referred to as toothed clubmoss, is an antagonist to acetylcholinesterase. [31]

It’s neuroprotective as it can prevent neurons from oxidative damage.

By using huperzine, you’re letting more acetylcholine be produced without being broken down for longer periods of time.

This helps establish a strong mind to muscle connection.

Usually it’s combined with a choline source but since there isn’t one in BZRK, we recommend getting it either from your diet or buying bulk choline like Alpha-GPC.

How To Take

As with any pre workout, we recommend starting with half the serving or even less to assess tolerance.

You can always take more if it’s not enough, but you can never reverse it.

Although there’s no DMHA, the focus and energy is still on par as it uses a strategic blend of nootropics and stimulants.

Flavors

This is one of the few pre workouts we’ve seen with a unique take on flavors.

Now there’s 2 formulas to BZRK, one with (10g) citrulline and the other with (7g).

There are a few differences in formulas but basically the one with (10g) citrulline has GABA, PEA and choline instead of synephrine, betaine and beta alanine.

Now that we’ve got that out of the way, here’s all the flavors available, with the first 4 flavors being for the formula with (10g) citrulline:

  • Blue Voodoo Punch
  • Red Voodoo Punch
  • Berry'd Money
  • Money Mojito
  • Comic Burst
  • Haterade
  • Crystal Blue
  • Lemonraz Icy
  • Mango Sunrise
  • Peach Rings

Out of these flavors, we’d have to say Peach Rings taste amazing, while Lemonraz Icy is refreshing.

Final Words

BZRK is a straightforward pre workout with potent stimulants and lots of nitric oxide boosters.

It may have been tweaked to remove DMHA but it’s proved that it isn’t needed to create a hard hitting pre workout.

And it works well.

It uses isopropylnorsynephrine, for a better form of synephrine while combining it with other stimulants.

The synergy between all the ingredients will create a thermogenic state filled with energy and appetite suppression.

Focus will be enhanced all day long even long after your workout thanks to it’s nootropic blend.

And it contains a full 25 serving, no 20/40 nonsense.

Black Magic Supply has done it well here and we look forward to what they come up with next.
