Bottom Line

Assassin v6.5 is the 6th version of one of the strongest pre workouts...

Coming straight from the most hardcore company for elite performance, Apollon Nutrition.

It's made for those who want to train at their best and with the amount of stims in it, it certainly should only be used by the advanced.

Assassin is one of the strongest pre workouts to surface the pre workout thus far.

So far, this version seems to have the most popularity due to it's strong effects.

There's no doubt...

There's always a stronger pre workout.

But the issue?

With the increase of exotic stimulants being used, like DMAA, they can create unwanted side effects.

Elevated blood pressure, shortness of breath, dizziness…

And who can forget the dreadful crash?

Apollon has solved this by creating several types of pre workouts.

One with a lot of caffeine but without exotic stimulants, check out Hooligan.

Another is with exotic stimulants, Assassin V6.

It doesn't only have 600mg caffeine but it has eria jarensis and way more.

This will up your focus and energy up above and beyond most pre workouts.

With over 6 stimulants and 6 ergogenic aids, Assassin seems to be one of the strongest pre workouts to come out in 2024 (and beyond?).

It should come to no surprise to see the massive amount of caffeine, previous pre workouts have contained similar amounts from Apollon.

Who is Apollon Nutrition (also once known as Anarchy Labs), you ask?

It all starts from Apollon Gym in New Jersey.

This gym is known to be the home of the hardcore athletes who train old school to extreme levels.

It’s the origin of many famous athletes like Robert Samborsky, Cory Anderson and Dan Miragliotta.

Rich Gaspari also trained in Apollon Gym back when he was just starting out in bodybuilding.

The athletes who trained here needed something that was stronger than what they could find in the mainstream market.

So Apollon Gym started Apollon Nutrition, a small line of supplements that was designed for hardcore results.

However, word got around about this brand and it started to grow much bigger than just being a brand that was sold for it’s gym members.

Apollon Nutrition dominated their niche and have created Anarchy Labs as a sister company.

When they made Assassin v5 in 2019, the feedback received from the community was overwhelmingly positive.

It was discontinued just after a few months of being released.

The demand was high for another version, so when Apollon released Assassin V6, it was an instant hit.

The amount of caffeine it has, along with 300mg eria jarensis and the other stimulants makes Assassin one of the strongest pre workouts to come out this year.

My Assassin (v6) Pre Workout Review

Assassin v6 is strong but can be a downside, it's too strong.

It would make me feel like my heart is beating at it's maximum before I even reached the gym.

On paper, Assassin v6.5 is supposed to be stronger and possibly from the better quality of ingredients.

It has the same stimulants but should be harder hitting than v6.

But about 20 minutes, all I feel is waves of focus and energy kicking in.

I start to feel overwhelmed, big waves of increased jitters and anxiety.

Not at all.

It's harder hitting than any Assassin I've tried.

And I love it.

Jaffa Orange tastes bad but it's fine, my priority is a strong workout.

And I don't feel much of the tingles from the beta alanine but that could be because I'm already saturated with it.

The pumps are good but nothing mind blowing.

Aggressive energy, focus and an urgency to workout is what Assassin makes me feel.

For the v6 version...

I noticed the heaping scoops weren't measuring the full 18.3g servings.

The regular version (not the FDN limited edition) has 16.8g servings.

So I think this might be due to the additional flavorings and the scoops are still the old version of 16.8g.

I felt as if I was taking a decent pre workout at this point, but after 20 more minutes, my heart started increasing in pacing, and everything that makes me anxious, made me more anxious, like talking to strangers.

I didn't want to talk, I just wanted to lift.

So as I was starting my workout, I was looking at the weights as if I was about to break some records.

My mindset was built like I was a crouching tiger about to catch his dinner.

And I had someone try to talk to me at the gym but I was too focused to let go of my mindset and I wasn't engaged in conversation for more than 10 seconds really.

After my workout, my energy was still high up, I would say it stayed high for at least 6 hours.

I took Assassin pretty early, around 12 pm, but come 6-8pm I was still feeling energized with no signs of a crash.

It might be because I'm sensitive to caffeine but I honestly didn't feel less energized until around 8-10 pm.

All in all, this isn't a pre workout that I would take every workout. It is such a exotic pre workout that it seems too good to use every time. I would use it once every week or two weeks even.

Without the use of exotic stimulants, this has to be the pre workout that would defeat every other exotic pre workout with DMAA and DMHA.

I like this more because I didn't feel the typical vasoconstriction that exotic stims like DMAA would give me.

Other than my heart pacing faster than I would like, Assassin is a perfect pre workout that I would not recommend taking a full scoop with.

If you're experienced with pre workouts, I would suggest 3/4 of a scoop even if you think you can handle the stimulants because you're still getting full dosages of every other ingredient.

And of course it tastes amazing.

But I doubt you would be drinking Assassin at a tasting contest because it's made for workouts, not for wine glasses.

My Assassin V7 review:

Assassin v7 is easily one of my favorite versions so far, even more than its predecessor, Assassin v5.

While v6 was strong, it often felt too intense, giving a sensation of a racing heart even before reaching the gym.

In contrast, Assassin v7, though theoretically stronger with the addition of stimulants like DMHA, offers a more balanced experience.

About 20 minutes after taking it, there's a noticeable surge of focus and energy, without the overwhelming sensation of a racing heart.

This version is smoother than any previous Assassin product, making it a favorite.

The flavor Ninja Carnage is particularly impressive, considered by many to be the best. With new flavors like Cherry Cola on the horizon, the options are expanding.

The beta alanine in Assassin v7 doesn't cause much tingling, possibly due to prior saturation. While the pumps are good, they aren't extraordinary. The standout features of Assassin v7 are its ability to enhance energy, focus, and the drive to work out.

Ingredients

Apollon Nutrition collaborated with FDN to create an even stronger version of Assassin with better quality ingredients.

This is the 6.5 edition.

Like before, it contains your basic nutrients, including vitamin B3, B6 and B12.

Notice a few changes from the previous Assassin?

This version contains 1g of Lions Mane, and some stimulants have increased by a few milligrams.

Caffeine also seems to be a bit more than the previous version and DMHA has been removed.

Everything else is nearly the same.

Now here is the new Assassin v7 label…

The formula looks nearly identical but there is actually a big difference between the two.

Instead of using Theacrine, it uses 300mg DMHA and 50mg less caffeine.

This means you're getting way more energy and mood elevation.

There's also a little more hordenine and the newly added higenamine.

All in all, the scoop is a little bigger, weighing at 18.7 grams vs the V6 version of 18.3.

Citrulline (4g)

Citrulline is the premium go to for nitric oxide enhancement.

It is beneficial for pumps, endurance and enhanced recovery.

When it’s combined with beta alanine, it gets even better as both work in similar ways and can have synergistic effects.

Citrulline works by increasing arginine levels which can increase nitric oxide levels, and vasodilation, letting your muscles get the most out of oxygen delivery and lactic acid removal.

Agmatine is also included which works well with citrulline.

Beta alanine (3.5g)

The tingly feeling that you get from pre workouts is usually the cause of beta alanine.

Beta alanine is the toxic waste remover, it helps prolong intense exercise by reducing the lactic acid build up that occurs from performing multiple reps.

L Tyrosine (1.5g)

Tyrosine increases focus in a way that is comparable to caffeine, though it does not have stimulant properties.

The dose is quite generous at 1.5g, it’ll work by increasing alertness and awareness.

Although L-Tyrosine is an amino acid, it is a strong mental booster.

Here’s how it works…

Many catecholamine neurotransmitters get depleted during exercise, L-Tyrosine acts as a precursor to many of them.

Tyrosine will help increase the production of those neurotransmitters while helping the body adapt to high stress exercise and stress in general.

This will lead to you to have better focus and cognition performance.

Agmatine (1g)

Agmatine is the force behind pumps but it has a few other benefits that range from mood to prolonged nitric oxide production.

With 1g agmatine, you’re getting the best out of what nitric oxide enhancement can provide.

This N.O. booster acts like a defender to nitric oxide, you won’t lose the pump due to its ability to prevent arginine levels from decreasing.

When nitric oxide levels are increased, naturally our bodies will decrease these levels by releasing arginase.

Arginase breaks down arginine which is not optimal for blood flow.

Agmatine inhibits arginase, allowing arginine levels to be at higher levels for.

Lion's Mane (1g)

Lions mane recently blew up in popularity due to its ability to be a potent cognitive enhancer.

This is the only mushroom that’s known to increase NGF, nerve growth factor.

This is one of the newer ingredients that’s been added to Assassin.

How does this help with your workouts, you ask?

This performance enhancing mushroom can reduce lactic acid build up, like beta alanine, but it can do a bit more as it can also reduce malondialdehyde and urea nitrogen, both are responsible for fatigue.

No wonder it’s used in PeakO2, a VO2 enhancing compound that’s researched to help increase oxygen uptake and performance in high intensity workouts.

That’s not all lion mane can help with.

It can also potentially increase bone density, improve sleep quality, and increase collagen content.

This mushroom is one of the most powerful choices that has plenty of mental and general health benefits that should be included in any type of supplement.

DMAE (750mg)

DMAE is a highly underrated nootropic.

From improved concentration to improved cognitive abilities, there’s plenty to have from DMAE.

Like Alpha GPC, this is a choline based compound that can increase concentration, memory, and improved mood.

Essentially, DMAE will increase acetylcholine production indirectly by decreasing metabolism of choline that’s used by other tissues in the body.

Your body will have more choline floating in your bloodstream.

Doses range from 25mg up to 600mg taken up to 3 times a day.

Here we’re seeing 700mg which is more than enough for a pre workout.

Bioperine (5mg)

To help all the ingredients get to where they need to go, Bioperine is added.

Research has shown Bioperine will help increase bioavailability of all the compounds that it’s used with.

Since this is the trademarked form, you’ll be getting at least 95% piperine.

Stimulants

Now we’re just getting to the stimulant portion of Assassin.

Starting from the massive dose of caffeine at 600mg, it also includes other sources of stims like TeaCrine, Eria Jarenesis, synephrine and even alpha yohimbine.

All of these stimulants are prolonged due to the addition of hordenine.

Caffeine (450mg)

Caffeine has been around for decades now and research has proven time and time again of its usefulness in increasing physical and mental performance.

It’s the grandfather of stimulants and it’ll remain to be included in pre workouts for years to come.

Caffeine blocks adenosine, a receptor that makes you feel tired, allowing you maximize alertness and energy.

Studies show that caffeine can increase strength, power and endurance.

B-Phenylethylamine (500mg)

There’s one thing that most people want from a pre workout and that’s more motivation and a mood uplift.

Assassin delivers on this front as this is one of two forms PEA included in this formula.

It helps the body increase catecholamines, something that will help you feel really good.

The dose here is quite generous at 500mg and the main problem with PEA is that it hits hard and then has a sharp decline of effectiveness rather quickly.

However this is smoothed out because hordenine is included, a mild stimulant that can prolong the effects of PEA and other stimulants.

N-Phenethyl Dimethylamine (300mg)

Eria jarensis is the strongest PEA-based ingredient to surface over the past year or so.

It’s sourced from eria jarensis flowers and it’s quite similar in structure to PEA.

However it’s a bit different since it doesn’t oxidize in minutes, it lasts longer and isn’t as aggressive.

Eria jarensis behaves like a potent neuromodulator by activating compounds that bind to receptors in the brain, mimicking neurotransmitters.

This leads to increased dopamine production.

In essence, you’ll feel waves of euphoria and a nice flow of energy.

Juglans Regia, DMHA (300mg)

DMHA is the alternative of DMAA.

It's marketed to be as strong but realistically, it's smoother and more preferable if you don't want to risk elevated blood pressure.

In Assassin v7, it makes it very smooth and doesn't increase heart rate as much as the v6 did.

Grape Seed Extract (300mg)

Grape seed extract is underutilized in pre workouts but it used to be in pre workouts more commonly a few years ago.

That’s not to say that it isn’t strong as it is a valuable compound to have in pwo’s.

Grape seed extract, or Vitis Vinifera, is full of antioxidants.

It is also rich in proanthocyanidins, and research shows that proanthocyanidins are anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, anti-allergic, and much more.

It’s included particularly for it’s vasodilation benefits.

Studies show it can increase blood flow and it works well with citrulline which is already included in Assassin.

TeaCrine 40% 300mg

Teacrine is touted to be the stronger form of caffeine, and it shows promise as tolerance doesn’t occur with this stimulant.

However it works better when it’s combined with other stimulants like caffeine, and there’s a huge dose of caffeine included here.

There are two neural pathways that are activated with TeaCrine and that’s dopaminergic and adenosinergic.

This will increase dopamine while inhibiting adenosine receptors.

Increased dopamine will improve energy and mood while decreasing adenosine will decrease the feeling of fatigue and relaxation.

Di-Caffeine Malate Infinergy (200mg)

Infinergy is a trademarked form of two forms of caffeine for a longer source of energy.

It mainly optimizes energy, mental focus and can potentially increase thermogenesis.

With 2 sources of caffeine, you’ll no longer have that harsh crash that caffeine is known to have, instead, you’ll have a steady flow of fast and slow acting caffeine.

Isopropylnorsynephrine (60mg)

There's no doubt that you've seen or had synephrine in a pre workout.

Very few of them have the stronger version which is the isopropyl version.

It's much stronger than the regular synephrine.

Isopropylsynephrine has the ability to work as a lipolytic by freeing up fatty acids that the body uses as energy.

This means even if you're on a low carb diet or working out fasted, this will help your body use fat as a source of energy.

Hordenine (75mg)

A monster pre workout like Assassin wouldn't be the same without hordenine.

Hordenine, or N-methyl tyramine HCl, is a beta-2 agonist.

It works by triggering the flight or fight response.

This doesn't only force adrenaline to surge but it also forces the body to dig into it's fat storage for energy.

Research also shows that hordenine has a positive effect on cAMP levels, causing an increase of epinephrine and glucagon.

Alpha Yohimbine + Yohimbine (1.5mg + 2mg)

There's 2 versions of yohimbine here.

Alpha yohimbine and regular yohimbine.

Alpha Yohimbine has various benefits from weight loss to energy enhancement and appetite suppressing.

And there’s more.

This fat burning compound can also increase mood, you’ll feel good due to its serotonin increasing ability.

Yohimbine acts as an alpha-2 antagonist, which essentially inhibits the production of alpha-2 receptors.

This prevents the body from creating new fat tissue, basically preventing the body from creating fat!

Dosages usually vary but an effective and strong dose starts from 1.5mg. At 2.5mg, you’ll be getting a fairly strong dose of alpha yohimbine.

You’re still getting 600mg caffeine along with 300mg DMHA, 300mg eria jarensis and 75mg hordenine, this will be ultra strong at full scoops to say the least!
