Pre Workouts Supplements By Nader Qudimat / Apr 27, 2017 Review of: Dust Extreme 2017 Purpose: Increase energy, focus and intensity Effectiveness A bit better than the previous formula as DMHA provides a smooth flow of energy rather than the hard hitting DMAA. Ingredients As expected, some ingredients (like citrulline malate) are not fully dosed for maximum benefits. Price Expensive but worth a try. Availability Relatively easy to find. We like Increases focus and awareness with multiple ingredientsSmooth and long lasting energyExotic stimulant (DMHA)Maximum dosage of caffeine (can be overwhelming for beginners)True one scoop of ingredients (though underdosed with citrulline malate) We Don't Like The priceRemoval of DMAA Summary: Dust Extreme has gone through a reformulation for 2017 as it has DMAA removed from the pre workout. (Though you can still find the DMAA version but it'll disappear soon)It uses a similar formula though it is no longer using the popular stimulant DMAA.DMHA is sometimes preferred as it gives a nice flow of energy with minimal crash. Dust Extreme is your go to pre workout for focus, energy and overall performance enhancement. Check It Out Want the O.G. DMAA version? Click here. Pre workouts with exotic stimulants are amazing…I’m sure you’ve tried at least one by now.Blackstone Labs is known to put out some decent ones, like Dust Extreme. You may have heard of the hype as the popular pre workout is one of the few that contain DMAA.However, just recently, the DMAA powered formula was discontinued and had to be replaced with DMHA and other stimulants.FDA is the reason for this reformulation as they raided Blackstone Labs recently. Though DMAA has been removed from the formula, it is still a strong pre workout. In fact, it is going to deliver much more energy than the original formula as it uses multiple stimulants, including the smoother DMAA-alternative, DMHA. The previous formula packed a hefty dose of DMAA and caffeine. Click on the image to find the DMAA version... And though it’s been a month since the FDA raided them, we still don’t know the exact details or for what they are being charged with. This reformulation has been planned out for quite a while now so it isn’t anything that they rushed out. As usual, we’ll jump into it and dissect the formula and see what’s new with the latest formula.Dust Extreme Ingredients (2017) One thing we love about Blackstone Labs is that they always use a fully transparent formula so you know how much of each ingredient you’re getting. You’ll notice that this new formula is using similar ingredients but they’ve removed Noopept and DMAA for DMHA and a giant dose of 500mg PEA. They’ve kept everything else the exact same, including caffeine and agmatine so you are definitely going to experience pumps and long lasting energy. And even though this isn’t meant to be a pure nitric oxide product, they’ve made it to be a 2-in-1 supplement as it packs 4 grams of citrulline malate and a full gram of agmatine for prolonged muscle hardness and endurance.Still want the DMAA version before it's gone for good? Click here. Citrulline Malate 2:1 (4g)Though we love seeing citrulline, we’d much prefer to see it without malate as it performs just as well. Still though, a nice 4 gram dose of this stuff is nice to have as it can increase nitric oxide and energy production as well as vasodilation and blood flow. This proven performance enhancer is a much more bioavaiable and effective N.O. precursor than L-Arginine. Another added benefit to citrulline malate besides increasing nitric oxide and energy production, is that it increases ATP production during high intensity exercise. And with the stimulants packed in here, you’ll find citrulline malate to provide a solid foundation for energy and recovery.Beta Alanine (2.5g)Like citrulline, beta alanine is good at preventing the ammonia build up that occurs during high intensity exercise (think of the burn!). It’ll not only allow you to train much more efficiency and harder, but it’ll also help increase strength, performance, and endurance while simultaneously decreasing fatigue and recovery times. You do need 3.2 grams of beta alanine to fully reap the benefits here but you would want to take multiple doses for optimal absorption. Agmatine (1g) Blackstone Labs brings out the pumps with Hype Extreme… If you like pumps and having them last for a prolonged period of time, then you’ll love having agmatine in your pre workout drink. At 1 gram you’ll find this ingredient performing at its best. When combined with citrulline malate, you’ll get strong and long lasting pumps from the beginning of the workout and long after. Most pre workouts will only have 500mg, but being a true one scooper, you’ll have the maximum amount with a full serving of Dust Extreme. Agmatine also functions as a neurotransmitter / neuromodulator so you’ll find a nice nootropic side to this N.O. ingredient as it’ll give you a nice mental boost. L-Tyrosine (1g) Blackstone Labs has removed NALT (N-Acetyl L-Tyrosine) and replaced it with a full gram of L-Tyrosine. Tyrosine performs nearly the same as NALT with increased focus and mood support but it is a little less bioavailable and more affordable. It’ll help decrease stress and anxiety while improving focus so you’ll be more in-the-zone with this ingredient. It gets even better when it’s combined with other stimulants as Tyrosine is really good at increasing your “natural energy” production and alertness. DMAE (750mg) An analog of choline, DMAE increases acetylcholine production (the learning neurotransmitter) and prevents the “age pigment” in the brain from building up. This a huge dosage compared to most supplements as we usually find 100 to 200mg of this stuff but here it’s dosed at 750mg! It really shines when it’s combined with caffeine and tyrosine as it can increase focus and really put you in the zone during your training. Dust Extreme provides solid focus and mental stimulation.Phenylethylamine (500mg)Here’s another ingredient that’s usually dosed at 250mg or less. Phenylethylamine provides a wave of euphoria by stimulating production of dopamine, noradrenaline and adrenaline. Basically PEA will hit you hard and for a short period of time but it’ll increase motivation and it’ll elevate your mood long enough for you to train hard. This dosage is rarely seen in pre workouts so do expect it to hit you hard and good. Caffeine Anhydrous (350mg) By now you’re probably familiar with this good old stimulant. It helps increase energy, decrease the feeling fatigue and help you feel more awake. You’ll probably like this dosage if you’re always using concentrated pre workouts as 350mg is more than enough to get you moving. We still have a few more stimulants ahead! This should be your scale if you want to survive Dust Extreme… (Do not exceed 1 scoop by the way)2-Aminoisoheptane (150mg)A lot of pre workouts are starting to include this stimulant as it’s the alternative to DMAA. DMHA, aka 2-Aminoisoheptane, is an aliphatic amine that can be found in nature just like DMAA. While it doesn’t hit as hard as DMAA, it still increases drive, mood and focus so if you felt the original Dust Extreme to be overwhelming, you’ll appreciate the smooth energy that this stimulant gives. Studies have shown that DMHA can be used as an anti-cancer, antibacterial and even as a pain relieving agent. Higenamine (75mg)Higenamine is our last and final stimulant of Dust Extreme’s stim blend here. It is a beta receptor agonist that boosts up the production of noradrenaline and increases that feeling of “fight or flight” that leaves you feeling energized and aware. This stimulant can help spare your glycogen stores from being used and helps the body use stored fats for energy. Overall you’ll feel more in-the-zone and prepared to lift hard and heavy. Huperzine A (300mcg) Here we have a nootropic that prevents the breakdown of acetylcholine which means you’ll have more focus and concentration. It prevents the production of acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme which breaksdown acetylcholine. You’ll essentially have more acetylcholine being used for better focus. One added bonus of huperzine is that it is neurogenerative and protects the brain from glutamine, a molecule that kills nerve cells. These pre workouts only perform as well as they look!FlavorsFlavors here are a bit exotic. There are two flavors available: Sour Gummy Bear and Pineapple Mango. The flavors are the same as the previous formulation so you can expect it to taste good. Dust Extreme Vs MesomorphHow would this DMHA-based pre workout compare against current DMAA pre workouts? There are quite a few DMAA pre workouts out there, though you may not be aware of it, they do exist by the dozens. We’ll compare Dust to one of the best selling out there, Mesomorph. Mesomorph has quite a profile for a concentrated pre workout, it is even considered to be a ergogenic pre workout as it has plenty of strength and endurance enhancing ingredients that’ll surely help you make more gains in the gym. A popular and super effective pre workout, Mesomorph remains at the top of our pre workout rankings… The ingredients are as follows: Beta alanine (3.2g) Citrulline Malate Arginine AKG Di-Creatine Malate L-Taurine Creatine Nitrate Vitamin C (300mg) Creatinol-O-Phosphate AgmatineGlucuronolactoneCaffeine Theobroma Naringin DMAA (1,3 Dimethylamine) That is quite a profile isn’t it?The energy, pumps and endurance are all packed into Mesomorph and when it comes to driving up intensity and gains, it will never fail to impress. You can see why this is at the very top of our top 10 list of pre workouts. For pumps it uses creatine nitrate and citrulline, whereas Dust Extreme uses agmatine and citrulline malate. And of course, it uses a strong combination of caffeine, DMAA, naringin, and theobroma for energy and focus. Mesomorph has more of a stronger energy kick that’ll slowly die off after 2-3 hours. Dust Extreme will give off smooth and seemingly long lasting energy as it uses DMHA and a couple of nootropics for sustaining mental energy and focus. So it really comes down to what you prefer as Dust Extreme is more for mental and longer lasting energy and somewhat good pumps and Mesomorph is hard hitting but strong in the pumps department and better overall performance thanks to the full dosage of beta alanine. If you really wanted a similar pre workout to Dust Extreme with it’s DMHA stimulant, you’d want to look at Kraken. Kraken by Sparta Nutrition uses a similar formula that uses DMHA for it’s main stimulant but has a slighty bigger dose of it with 200mg (instead of 150mg that is used in Dust Extreme). Kraken has a bit of the edge for mood as it contains a PEA-based stimulant, Eria Jarensis, which is generally referred to as a DMAA alternative. Final WordsBlackstone Labs is one company that does not hold back when it comes to formulating strong pre workouts. Even if the FDA does successfully ban DMAA somehow, Dust Extreme will remain high up at the top. DMHA is a good alternative to DMAA though it doesn’t provide a strong kick, the energy will flow smoothly for a nice prolonged period of time without crashing hard. This certainly isn’t the last time we’ll hear from the FDA as they’ll continue to fight to get DMAA banned (for whatever reason). Overall Rating: Though this is powered by DMHA, it still has the same formula that helps power you through with proper focus and endurance. Dust Extreme is a solid pre workout that is worth trying a couple times and will remain as a exotic pre workout for its use of DMHA.
